Getting Started

1) How do I open and close the sidebar?

A: Click on the blue & red sidebar browser icon which is located on the navigation tool bar.

2) How do I make a reKommendation?

A: First, you need to invite a friend to reKommend. You can do that either in the sign-up process or by clicking the invite button within the reK to: tab or in the friends section of the friends tab. Once your friend accepts your invite, you will see their name appear within the reK to: tab. Then, open your reKommend sidebar and go to a web page that you want to share. Within the sidebar, select one or more friends, add a comment if you want and then click the reKommend It! button. Also, to keep the names checked in the reK to, email to, and post to tabs, check the keep checked box which is across from the invite button within the reK to: tab.

3) Can I make reKommendations in the Rek to, Email to, and Post to tabs all at the same time?

A: Yes! For example, let's say you want to send a link to 2 of your reK friends, 2 email addresses, and facebook and twitter at the same time. All you have to do is select the 2 friends in the reK to: tab, the 2 email addresses in the Email to: tab, the facebook and twitter icons in the Post to: tab and then click the 'reKommend It! button. It is that easy!

4) How do I create a Bookmark?

A: Open your reKommend sidebar and browse to the web page you want to bookmark. Within the sidebar, click on the bookmark tab and then click the Bookmark It! button. By default if you don't choose a folder your bookmark will be filed in the 'ungrouped' folder. Otherwise you can choose whatever folder you want it to go in or create a new folder. Other options include making your bookmark private, adding tags and notes.

5) Where do I browse or search for reKommendations that my friends have sent me?

A: Click on the Browse tab in the sidebar and you will see all your reKommendations. Click on the search tab to search for rekommendations or bookmarks within your own account or within the entire reKommend.com database.

6) How do I invite people to become my friends on reKommend.com?

A: There are two ways to do this. You can click the ‘invite’ button within the reK to tab which is within the main reKommend tab. Or, click on the friends tab and then click on the ‘invite’ button within the Friends section at the bottom.

7) What are all the things I can do with the reKommend sidebar?

A: Here is what you can do with the reKommend sidebar:

• Share links from account to account!
• Share links from account to email!
• Share links from account to Facebook & Twitter! More social networks coming soon!
• Bookmark into Folders or use Tags!
• Edit, Delete, Bookmark & Share links in the sidebar!
• View & Make Comments in the sidebar!
• Search your account right in the sidebar!
• And Much More!

Misc:

1) Where are my bookmarks located?

A: Your bookmarks are located within the browse tab. Click on the browser tab and then select 'bookmarks' from the drop down menu.

2) What is a Tag?

A: A tag is a non-hierarchical keyword assigned to reKommendations and bookmarks. This kind of metadata helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching.

3) How do I import my Firefox bookmarks?

A: Upon initial account creation you can select to import your Firefox bookmarks. Subsequently you can log into the sidebar, click on the my account tab and then choose the import bookmarks link. Go to the Import Bookmarks Help page for more help.

4) Why can't I use Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Apple Safari?

A: Currently only the Firefox browser is supported though we do have plans to support other browsers as well in the near future.

5) Why don't you have a website where you can browse your reKommendations and bookmarks like delicious?

A: We felt that it was redundant and confusing to have the same functions of the sidebar duplicated on a website. Plus, many delicious users now use the sidebar exclusively to browse their bookmarks and never go to the website.

6) Do you plan on coming out with mobile apps(iphone, android, etc.)?

A: Yes, we plan on coming out with mobile apps post beta launch.
